About This Retro Game

Developed as a contest prize for Nippon Broadcasting's 'All Night Nippon' program, this rare FDS version modifies the original game with radio-themed sprites: Koopa Troopas become headphones, Bowsers transform into radio towers, and power-ups resemble cassette tapes.

Includes exclusive DJ voice samples during gameplay - one of the first Mario games to feature voice clips. The FDS audio channel is used creatively for radio static sound effects when Mario takes damage.

Only 10,000 copies were produced, making it one of the rarest official Mario releases. The ROM was later distributed via Nintendo Power's Disk Writer service in 1987, but original disks are highly collectible.

Though gameplay remains identical to the original, this version is prized for its quirky localization that perfectly captures Japan's 1980s radio culture.
