TMNT
TMNT is a 2007 side-scrolling beat-'em-up developed by Ubisoft Montreal for the Game Boy Advance, tying into the CGI film of the same name. Rather than a lazy console port, Ubisoft built a completely original 2.5D brawler that channels the spirit of classic TMNT arcade games. Players guide Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo through acrobatic combat across New York City streets, rooftops, and sewers, with each turtle receiving an exclusive chapter that explores their personal struggles with family and duty.

About This Retro Game
Unlike the disappointing home console versions, the GBA TMNT was widely praised as a triumphant return to form. Combat is fast and deeply varied: you can juggle enemies in mid-air, rack up 20-plus hit combos, and smash environmental objects to grab makeshift weapons like lead pipes and concrete slabs. A tag-team system lets you summon a brother turtle for a screen-clearing co-op attack—or to drop a healing pizza if you're in a pinch.
Each of the seven missions focuses on a single turtle, weaving flashback-driven story segments that mix comic-style hand-drawn art with stills from the movie. Between missions, you explore the turtles' sewer lair and a small slice of New York City, where you can replay stages, shop for upgrades using collected currency, and chase achievements in the trophy room.
While the single-player-only design and roughly three-to-four-hour campaign disappointed some critics, the tight controls, impressive 2D sprite animation, and rock-infused soundtrack earned TMNT a reputation as one of the best movie-licensed games on the platform. For beat-'em-up fans, it remains a short but electrifying ride that understands what makes the Turtles special.
