F-Zero: Maximum Velocity
F-Zero: Maximum Velocity is a futuristic racing game developed by NDCube and published by Nintendo for the Game Boy Advance in 2001. As the first F-Zero game on the GBA, it faithfully recreates the high-speed anti-gravity racing of the SNES original while introducing new vehicles, tracks, and gameplay mechanics tailored for handheld play.

Set 25 years after the original F-Zero, Maximum Velocity features a new roster of 30 pilots racing across 20 tracks at blistering speeds up to 1,500 km/h. The game retains the series' signature energy-based health system where your vehicle serves as both shield and fuel.
The GBA hardware allowed for Mode 7-style scaling and rotation effects similar to the SNES original, with improved sprite scaling and faster load times. New mechanics include the 'Spin Attack' for knocking out rivals and 'G-Force Boosts' that temporarily increase speed at the cost of energy.
While criticized for its steep difficulty curve, Maximum Velocity was praised for capturing the essence of F-Zero in portable form. It served as the technical foundation for future F-Zero GBA titles and remains one of the fastest racing experiences on the platform.
